After you fill out your FAFSA®, youll receive financial aid offers from the colleges that you applied to and have been accepted to. Once the Financial Aid Office completes student’s file, each student will receive a Financial Aid Award Notification Email which will indicate an estimated Financial Aid Disbursement Date. IMPORTANT: Financial aid is disbursed according to Need and number of units in which you are enrolled. Student must be enrolled.
Financial Aid disbursements will be delayed, canceled, or reduced for students who are disqualified from financial aid because of lack of Satisfactory Academic Progress . Students on Financial Aid Probation or in Maximum Timeframe status without an approved appeal must wait until their file is reviewed and approved by the Financial Aid Office. Students who are not approved are disqualified from receiving aid.

How much funding you receive depends on the number of units you are enrolled in and what type of financial aid you have been provided.

How Pell Grants Work

To receive a Pell Grant at Palo Verde College Community College you must have completed the FAFSA application, have a completed financial aid file, met with the Financial Aid Officer and signed your award letter. If you have not completed these steps you will not receive your Pell Grant check on the scheduled dates.
Pell Grants are disbursed over the entire academic year: one-half in the fall and one-half in the spring. Each semester there are two disbursements.
In order to pick up your Pell Grant check you must present a picture I.D. and your Social Security Card. If you forget to bring either one you will not be able get your checks. Please do not send another person to pick up your checks, as they will not be permitted to do so.
For your information, not every student receives the same amount of Pell Grant money. It depends on what the SAR calculated as the EFC and whether or not you live with parents or on your own. It also depends on the number of units in which you are enrolled. Remember, if you drop classes, your Pell grant money will also be decreased. You must also maintain satisfactory academic progress to receive the Pell Grant.

When Will I Receive My Pell Grant Refund
There is no one universal set date on which Federal Pell Grant refunds are disbursed. The disbursement schedule is up to each schools financial aid office.
Some schools will disburse the refund before the academic period begins, and others will wait until after the add/drop period has passed.

Fall and Spring Pell grants are disbursed in two payments per semester with the exception of Summer.
