Education And Training Vouchers For Youth Aging Out Of Foster Care
The Education and Training Vouchers program assists current and former foster youth who are advancing into roles as post-secondary students. College and other specialized educational programs qualify for student assistance valued at up to $5000 per foster youth applicant annually. Funding comes from the Federal Government, but the program is administered by individual states. Qualified candidates are between the ages of 16 and 23, and enrolled in two or four year educational programs.

Uvalde Schools Get $442000 From John Cornyns Federal Gun Safety Law
The gun safety law allocates $100 million for a Department of Justice grant program for school districts to invest in safety programs and technology. Twenty-eight Texas school districts were awarded grants through the program, totaling almost $8 million.

Texas school districts are set to receive nearly $8 million from the Justice Department to improve campus security this year through funding from the bipartisan gun safety law passed this summer. That includes nearly half a million for Uvalde.
The gun safety law allocates $100 million for a DOJ grant program for school districts to invest in safety programs and technology. Twenty-eight Texas school districts were awarded grants through the program, totaling $7,923,719. The grants are distributed via the DOJs Office of Community Oriented Policing Services based on districts fiscal needs and security proposals.
More school districts were awarded grants in Texas than in any other state. Still, with over 1,000 public school districts in the state, the grants touched only a sliver of Texas schools.
Other Texas Republicans, however, were less supportive of the legislation. Sen. Ted Cruz did not vote for the bill, nor did any Texas Republicans in the House except for Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-San Antonio. Gonzales district includes Uvalde.
Texas Educational Opportunity Grant
Texas Educational Opportunity Grants are similar to TEXAS Grants, but offer specific provisions for students attending two year colleges. Similar eligibility requirements govern both initiatives, but TEOG recipients must exhibit Expected Family Contribution levels below $2000 each. Each participant attends a public 2-year college within Texas and qualifies for assistance for up to four years, 75 credit hours or until an associates degree is earned.

- ESC Mental Health Leads have participated in a monthly Professional Learning Community to build skills, identify resources, and engage in peer collaboration
- ESCs have each partnered with five or more small and rural districts to engage in local needs assessment and planning
- ESCs have facilitated regional Professional Learning Communities with participating districts, creating resilient, collaborative communities within their regions for small and rural LEAs
- ESCs have offered training to the LEAs to meet the unique local needs identified in planning partnerships and
- Small and rural districts have seen an increase in formal and informal relationships with LMHAs, the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine program, and other community mental and behavioral health resources.

Charley Wootan Grant Program
This grant funding is offered to help financially needy students to pursue a college education. The primary funding is awarded to Texas residents, though some funding is awarded outside of the state. You must be a United States citizen in order to be eligible and must not already have received a bachelors degree.
When applying, you must submit a letter of enrollment at a school, a copy of a Student Aid Report, copy of transcript and other required paperwork. The grant may not be renewable for the next year, but can only be guaranteed for the first year of the award.
The awarding of the grant depends on the information obtained from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Information regarding the program can be obtained via www.aie.org/wootan/ or .
The Top 10% Scholarship Program
This grant funding opportunity is intended to support students who are in the highest 10 percent of their graduating class to attend college. Students who are eligible must meet the following requirements:
- be a resident of the state of Texas
- have a financial need
- complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or the Texas Application for State Financial Aid
- be in the top 10 percent of class at graduation from accredited high school
- enroll in a two- or four-year Texas public college full-time
- finish the Recommended or Distinguished Achievement high school curriculum
Students can get up to $2,000, but there may be a bonus if the student decides to major in an area where there is a critical shortage of workers. This includes areas such as teaching, nursing, engineering, math, technology, science and allied health. The bonus can be $2,000, but students may not receive more than $4,000 for funding.
In order to receive the bonus, the student must maintain a 3.0 grade point average, enroll full-time and attend classes at least 75 percent of the time. The same requirements are in place for the student to renew the funding in the next school term, except that they must have a 3.25 grade point average to renew.

Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office
Border Economic Development Grant – The Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office, as a Trusteed Program within the Office of the Governor, solicited proposals for projects to promote border economic development, which includes out-of-state business recruitment, the promotion of economic development, and strategic regional planning.
Spaceport Trust Fund – The Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office, as a Trusteed Program within the Office of the Governor, solicited proposals from eligible applicants to pay expenditures for the development of infrastructure necessary or useful for establishing a spaceport.
South Texas College Of Law Grants
South Texas College of Law offers more than $3.5 million worth of campus-specific assistance annually. Scholarships, grants and loans support education at the school, which stands as a significant value among law schools, at around $13,000 per semester for tuition. Qualified students are evaluated based on undergraduate performance, scholastic achievements and LSAT scores. For many rural districts, distance creates a barrier because Local Mental Health Authorities and other mental health resources are located hours away. Smaller districts frequently have less staff to address mental and behavioral health needs. The Title IV Part A grant, provided by the Texas Education Agency, is intended to foster regional collaboration to decrease barriers and improve the educational experience for students and staff.
Grant funds are provided to each of the 20 Educational Service Centers to support the delivery of training, coaching, and technical assistance to small and rural local education agencies on enhancing the multi-tiered system of supports for mental and behavioral health. The Small and Rural grant is building the expertise, skill, and capacity at the regional level and the local level with an emphasis on mental health and behavioral health.
The ESCs participate in a monthly Behavioral Health Professional Learning Community that focuses on resource and relationship building for LEAs. Each ESC is responsible for partnering with five or more small/rural LEAs to assess, build, and improve their mental/behavioral health systems. The Title IV A Grants focus on mental/behavioral health for small and rural LEAs has three overarching goals:

This funding opportunity is offered once a year to students enrolled in accredited programs to be trained in a health profession. The programs that are eligible include:
