What About The Innovateher Women Business Challenge

There was previously a nationwide SBA business grant competition for women called the InnovateHer Challenge, organized by the US Small Business Administrations Office of Womens Business Ownership. The InnovateHer Challenge awarded federal grant money to three finalists every year from 2015-2017. These grants were reserved for businesses that used innovation to improve the lives of women. Among the winners who applied in 2016, first place won $40,000 second place received $20,000 third place got $10,000.

Unfortunately, this SBA grant quietly disappeared under the Trump administration, but well let you know if this program, or any other SBA grant for women, is funded during Bidens tenure.

First Nations Development Institute Grants

Barefoot Launches 2 New Grant Programs For Black Women

The Power Forward Small Business Grant program supports Black-owned small businesses throughout New England. Vistaprint, the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation, and the NAACP partner to fund and manage the award program. Eligible Black-owned businesses with between 1 and 25 employees can apply for grants of $25,000. This is a multi-round program, so awards are granted on a rolling basis.

Government Contracts For Minority Owned Businesses

The US government dedicates at least 5% of federal contracting dollars to socially disadvantaged people and entities.

A partial list of qualifications:

  • at least 51 percent owned and controlled by U.S. citizens who are economically and socially disadvantaged
  • Be owned by someone whose personal net worth is $750,000 or less
  • Be owned by someone whose average adjusted gross income for three years is $350,000 or less
  • Have all its principals demonstrate good character
  • Show potential for success and be able to perform successfully on contracts

The Sf Womens Entrepreneurship Fund

The SF womens Entrepreneurship fund is geared toward helping women realize their dreams. The program focuses on women who are looking to start their own businesses in different spheres. Here is the list of criteria you should meet to be eligible for qualifying for this grant.

Your business must:

  • Have up to 5 employees
  • Have been in operation since at least September 16, 2019
  • Have had less than $2.5 million in gross annual receipts in 2018 or 2019
  • Have seen a 25% decline in revenue because of a closure or reduced operations during the coronavirus outbreak

Free Marketing Campaigns For Minority And Women

Comcast created their Comcast RISE program to provide business owners with technology assistance, creative media, and marketing campaigns. If your business is for-profit, at least 51% women-owned or minority-owned, is independently owned and operated, has been in business for at least one year, and is in Comcast’s coverage area, you may qualify for one of their programs.

Comcast will choose hundreds of businesses and assist them with the creation of a televised media campaign or a technology makeover for their business. The deadline to apply is June 17th, 2022.

Olay is providing grants to women-owned businesses that focus on arts and social causes. There are also free scholarships as well as coaching. Comcast Rise has created several grants to help women of color to grow their businesses. Comcast Rise understands the impact and struggles that women of color face everyday, especially running a business. In June 2020, Comcast NBCUniversal announced the development of a comprehensive, multi-year plan to allocate $75 million in cash and $25 million in media over the next three years to fight injustice and inequality against any race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation or ability.

Annuity Payment Freedom is providing a small dollar microgrant each month. The program is known as BIPOC Small Business Grant, and it is ongoing. There is also marketing help, SEO for the grant winners and other support. A major focus is on Black owned businesses, and apply here.

First American Capital Corporation, Inc., or FACC, is a community lender that focuses on Native Americans. They offer SBA loans, Native American entrepreneurship classes and a development center, provide free counseling or legal services and more.
